Growing Up Too Fast: Rolling Over

Ha, after writing this post, I found a video on my camera of Kiera rolling over that must have occurred last week! Wow, I'm really losing my mind since I didn't remember this until I found it.

Kiera is just shy of 7 weeks and rolled over for the first time last night! Before having kids, you think: What's the big deal about rolling over? Once you see your baby achieve that first milestone though, you understand why it's so exciting. I know that she rolled because I had her on her tummy and when I looked back she was on her back. Gabe dropped his trains at the same time, however, so everyone was looking at him and none of us actually saw her roll! Seven weeks, while still sounding like such a short time, has gone so quickly. We've already passed Halloween and Thanksgiving is quickly approaching. Oddly, I still think of time in school terms: first report cards have gone out, second quarter has begun, semester will wrap up quickly, Christmas program is right around the corner. This part of the year has always gone quickly. I wasn't sure whether that would be true without the busy school schedule, but the time is still flying by. I realize by the time the holidays are over Kiera will be working on sitting up. She'll be a true infant rather than a newborn. She's already losing many of her newborn tendencies and becoming more babylike everyday. Sitting up will lead to eating food, scooting, crawling, and before we know it - she'll be toddling around the house and our baby days will be over. I know we still have time before that happens so I will try to slow down time and enjoy each stage as it arrives.
